You will be starting out on a career as a programmer, and will probably be a recent graduate in computer science, with fluency in at least two programming languages. It will be advantageous if one of those is python. You will be able to understand complex business problems and express how they can be solved, even if the solution involves huge change. We are looking for someone who is smart, can work to deadlines and can learn fast. You will be smart enough to solve the problem posed on pirc.co.uk/sql.html and will include that answer with your cv to jobs@pirc.co.uk. The deadline is 20th June 2008
We offer you a competitive package and the opportunity to develop your career in a growing organisation. Benefits include 30 days holiday a year and membership of the Company’s Pension Scheme following a successful probation period.
PIRC is the UK’s leading independent provider of corporate governance and corporate social responsibility research. Our client list includes some of Europe’s largest pension funds and investment managers. They want authoritative and innovative company analysis to inform their proxy voting and other shareholder action.
We have vacancies within our team for self-motivated and committed staff to contribute to PIRC’s growing portfolio of services. Responsibilities include: critical analysis and data inputting of company social responsibility and governance disclosures, preparation of detailed profiles of leading companies including voting advice and ratings on governance and social issues, liaison with senior company executives and development of sector and policy expertise. Initially the role will be at a junior level, but promotion within the organisation will be possible for those that show the right aptitude.
You will be able to demonstrate your skill for meticulous research whilst coping with high volumes of information, managing your own workload to strict deadlines and playing a positive team role. High levels of verbal and written communication skills are required. An interest in corporate governance and commitment to corporate accountability is also essential.
You must have a good first degree and be computer literate. Work experience would be an advantage. The posts are open from now and we would be interested in both full and part time applicants. If you are interested in the position, please send a CV and covering letter to:
jobs@pirc.co.uk by 5pm 28th February 2008.
PIRC has an IT department with a difference. We are all programmers and proud of it.
And we are on the look out for new talent. To this end we run an ongoing-intern program aimed at software students currently in a degree-awarding (or equivalent) course. The intern program runs throughout the year, and provides intensive industry experience, with (as far as possible) self-contained projects that interns can see from beginning through to production.
The successful applicants will be chosen by a simple programming task - please visit the intern test page - complete the task and email me a correct solution and we will call you back real fast for a phone interview.
