Brothers in arms
Of the five Investec non-executive directors who have received a thumbs down from corporate governance advisers Pirc ahead of next month’s annual meeting, one is co-founder Ian Kantor.
Mr Kantor, 63, has been on the board for more than 30 years and is the older brother of Investec’s 60-year-old managing director Bernard Kantor.
The two brothers and other colleagues set up Investec as a leasing company in Johannesburg in 1974 and it received a banking licence in 1980. Floated in Joburg six years later, it listed in London in 2002. The younger Kantor is a keen horseracing fan, and Investec – now in the FTSE 100 – sponsors the Derby
